Mission ShakthiSAT
Destination LEO

Mission ShakthiSAT: Destination LEO is an international CubeSat mission designed to up-skill and empower young women through hands-on spacecraft engineering, payload development, and on-orbit operations.

The mission offers free rideshare access to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) for selected payload teams, combined with an intensive STEM and Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) programme delivered in India.

The mission is delivered in partnership between:
Space Kidz India & Meridian Space Command.

    • Spacecraft: 8U CubeSat (2 x 2 x 2 configuration) with full AOCS

    • Launch: October 2026

    • Orbit: Low Earth Orbit (LEO)

    • Mission lifetime: TBD

    • Payload envelope: 1U, ≤1 kg

    • Payload placement: Bottom 2 x 2 section

    • Operations: All payloads operated by the Mission team

    • Cost to payloads: FREE rideshare to space

    • Asia – Spacecraft BUS by Space Kidz India

    • UK / Europe – 1U, ≤1 kg payload

    • North or South America – 1U, ≤1 kg payload

    • Africa – 1U, ≤1 kg payload

    • Oceania – 1U, ≤1 kg payload

Payload Teams may be academic or commercial or agency, but STEM outreach is mandatory.

    • Teams led by women and majority women

    • Payloads that advance science and/or raise TRL

    • Strong commitment to knowledge transfer and mentorship

    • Ability to participate in on-site AIT in India

    • One payload selected per geo-zone

    • Payload < 1U and < 1 kg

    • Team capability to deliver high-quality STEM knowledge transfer

    • Willingness to perform AIT alongside a STEM cohort in India

    • July 2026 on-site programme

    • 5 Payload Team members attend in person

    • Each team mentors 27 young women

    • Knowledge transfer includes:

      • Payload hardware and hands-on assembly

      • Spacecraft systems engineering

      • Mission operations and cislunar engineering fundamentals

    • Assembly, Integration and Testing of Flight Model or Engineering Model conducted with the cohort

Provided by the Mission: accommodation, food, local transport, and spacecraft facilities in India

Provided by payload teams: entire payload and international flights to India

    • Proposal submission deadline: 20 January 2026, 23:59 UTC

    • Acceptance notification: 31 January 2026, 23:59 UTC

    • AIT & STEM programme (in India): July 2026

    • Launch window: October 2026

    • Mission Lifetime: TBD

Note: due to the STEM nature of this mission, and the fact that the spacecraft is considered a “Filler” on the launch vehicle, the launch window may shift at short notice.

Why This Mission Matters

Mission ShakthiSAT: Destination LEO is not just another CubeSat mission.

It is a global capability-building programme, focused on women-led teams, real spaceflight hardware, and meaningful international knowledge transfer.

Selected payloads will fly to orbit at no cost, while directly contributing to the training of the next generation of women space engineers.

If your team wants to fly hardware, teach, learn, and make a global impact – this mission is for you!
